Julio Rodríguez is a great addition to any Diamond Dynasty outfield, and his 99 OVR Topps Update Series Baseball card gives players a solid reason to work through the Autumn Ascensions Program. Released on October 14, 2026, this version combines strong hitting, elite speed, and reliable center-field defense. Since you can earn him through gameplay instead of relying on pack luck, he is worth pursuing before spending your MLB Stubs on another outfielder.

How to Unlock Julio Rodríguez in Autumn Ascensions

Rodríguez is the final reward in Autumn Ascensions, requiring 40 program points. You will also collect several high-rated players along the way, making the grind worthwhile even if you have not reached the final reward yet.

Here is the reward progression:

• 10 points: Trey Yesavage, 99 OVR
• 20 points: JJ Wetherholt, 99 OVR
• 30 points: Konnor Griffin, 99 OVR
• 40 points: Julio Rodríguez, 99 OVR

The program also features Parallel XP missions. Earn 500 Parallel XP with an eligible version of each featured player to receive 10 points per mission. A separate mission involving Bobby Witt Jr. offers another way to progress, potentially replacing one of the featured-player objectives.

Before starting, check which cards you already own. Using an eligible player from your collection can save you from making an unnecessary marketplace purchase. If you plan to buy MLB Stubs for other upgrades, completing these objectives first is a sensible way to preserve your balance.

Julio Rodríguez's Hitting Attributes

Rodríguez is not limited to one favorable pitching matchup. His contact and power ratings are well balanced against both right-handed and left-handed pitchers, making him a practical everyday starter.

His key offensive attributes include:

• Contact vs. Right: 108
• Power vs. Right: 104
• Contact vs. Left: 106
• Power vs. Left: 106
• Vision: 95
• Clutch: 104

These numbers give him a useful mix of contact and extra-base potential. His nearly even splits also mean you do not need to keep a second center fielder ready for every pitching change.

His six active quirks add situational benefits:

• Dead Red: Helps against fastballs.
• Unfazed: Provides an advantage in two-strike situations.
• First-Pitch Hitter: Benefits performance on the first pitch of an at-bat.
• Road Warrior, Day Player, and Situational Hitter: Offer additional situational advantages.

Quirks can make a difference, but good pitch recognition remains essential. Avoid swinging at everything simply because Rodríguez has strong hitting ratings.

Speed and Defense Make Him a Complete Outfielder

Rodríguez's biggest advantage over many power-focused outfielders is his ability to influence the game after making contact.

• Speed: 99 — Excellent for taking extra bases and putting pressure on fielders.
• Stealing: 85 — Gives him useful potential on the basepaths.
• Fielding: 92 — Provides a strong defensive foundation in center field.
• Arm Strength: 99 — Helps him make powerful throws to the bases.
• Arm Accuracy: 80 — A noticeable weakness compared with his other defensive attributes.

Use his speed to stretch singles into doubles when the situation allows, but do not turn every opportunity into a risky steal attempt. His arm strength is impressive, although the lower accuracy rating means not every throw will be perfect.

For players comparing him with other outfield options, his combination of speed, power, and defensive range is a major selling point. Before using cheap MLB Stubs to purchase a replacement, consider whether your current roster really offers a better all-around fit.

Best Lineup Position for Julio Rodríguez

Rodríguez can fill several roles depending on how you build your batting order.

• Leadoff hitter: Take advantage of his contact and speed to create early scoring opportunities.
• Second in the order: Combine on-base potential with the ability to advance runners.
• Middle of the lineup: Use his power to drive in runners while retaining his baserunning threat.

I would start by batting him near the top of the order, then adjust based on his results and your other hitters. His balanced splits make him flexible enough to remain in the lineup against either pitching hand.

Is Julio Rodríguez Worth Unlocking?

Absolutely, especially if your center-field position needs an upgrade. Autumn Ascensions offers a clear progression path, and the additional 99 OVR rewards make the time spent earning Rodríguez more valuable.

Once Rodríguez joins your roster, test his swing and baserunning in a few games before deciding where he fits best. If you are checking MLB Stubs for sale to fund further upgrades, focus on positions that still need improvement rather than spending on another outfielder immediately. Rodríguez can give your Diamond Dynasty team a strong combination of offense, speed, and defense without making pack luck the center of your roster-building strategy.
