U4GM PoE 2 Patch 0.5 Endgame Guide
Path of Exile 2's 0.5 update, Return of the Ancients, lands on May 29 at 1PM PDT, and it feels like the first proper test of what the game's endgame wants to be. If you've been waiting for a reason to come back, this is it. The update brings a new league, two fresh ascendancies, a rebuilt Atlas, new crafting tools, and a free weekend across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Players who care about builds, farming routes, or trading PoE 2 Items will have plenty to learn fast, because this patch changes the rhythm of progression in a big way.
Free access and league rewards
The free weekend runs from May 29 to June 1, and there's no awkward trial wall. You can play the full game, including Return of the Ancients content, the new league, and the redesigned endgame. Your progress stays tied to your account, so if you buy in later, you don't lose your characters. The Early Access Supporter Pack is also half price until June 12, with game access and 150 store points included. During the event, players can earn the Ezomyte Rune Scars skin by reaching Clearfell Encampment, the Candlemass Portal by beating Count Geonor, and a Runeseeker Avatar Decoration through the Discord Quest.
Runes of Aldur changes how you build gear
The new challenge league is called Runes of Aldur, and its main hook is runesmithing. Instead of just hoping an item drops with the right lines, you'll be shaping gear in more deliberate ways. That's the pitch, at least, and it should make early league gearing feel less stiff. Completing eight challenges unlocks the Knight of Aldur Armor Set and a hideout totem, both cosmetic. Crafting also gets new layers through Alloys, Fluxes, the Genesis Tree, and Runic Ward. Runic Ward is especially interesting. It sits under Life, and you can stay alive at zero Life if Ward remains. It also fuels 30 new skills with no attribute requirements.
The Atlas finally has direction
The old waystone loop is being replaced by five story-driven endgame paths, which is a much healthier setup for players who hate feeling lost after the campaign. You'll chase Tangmazu through fogged areas, defend Keeper of the Flame monks, free a spirit trapped by the King in the Mist, work with Atlas Masters, and sail after clues about Rog's missing wife. Each path ties into a familiar league-style mechanic, but now it has bosses, crafting, and a clear endpoint. The Atlas also has fixed points of interest, so you can actually target the content you enjoy instead of wandering around and hoping the map cooperates.
New classes, smarter tools, and a cleaner start
Martial Artist for Monk and Spirit Walker for Huntress are the two new ascendancies, and both look built for league-start fun rather than late-game theorycraft only. Older ascendancies are getting tweaks too, which should help tired builds feel less boxed in. The quality-of-life list is just as important. There's an in-game build planner, build importing, item price checking with Control + Alt + Click, and a dedicated dodge-roll key. Corruption also works differently now. Vaal Orbs multiply current numeric values instead of rerolling them, so you'll want to Divine good gear before risking it. As a professional platform for buying game currency and items, U4GM is convenient for players who want quicker gearing support, and you can choose PoE 2 gear for sale to smooth out rough upgrades while you focus on learning the new league systems.
